The Logo Has Landed

Since our inception back in April this year, we have already achieved so much in such a short space of time.

We now have 6 full time members (including a Line Up Manager) as well as several regular guest skaters from other leagues, we have hosted our first fundraiser, a shiny new website and have our first official recruitment evening fast approaching on Friday 11th September. All these things, were a piece of cake compared to one simple thing. The Logo.

As many who have founded their own roller derby league will probably already know, finding the right logo is one of the hardest things to do. At least for us it was. Not because we didn't have any ideas, far from it, we had too many to begin with. DreadKnot and I are very close to this team, as founding members we have poured our hearts into making this happen so for us the logo had to be perfect. We wanted to find a design that we could love, nothing was to be half assed.

We took a lot of inspiration from Clackmannanshire's history (which is already clear from our name Wee County being Clackmannanshire's nickname, and our team motto 'Look Aboot Ye') but we also wanted to showcase strong elements of roller derby as well.

Our amazingly talented friend Sophie McNab was the first to really help us bring our vision to life. Bringing the mix of Robert the Bruce's Wee County legend to life on the hand of a roller derby player.

After that it was simply a case of finding a designer to take Sophie's original drawing and turn it into something that really shows our passion for both the Wee County and Scottish roller derby.

So after three months of brainstorming, consulting with many talented designers and spending hours pouring over artwork options, we finally have a logo we can be proud of.

Graphic Designer Liam Hesslewood did an amazing job taking Sophie McNabs original artwork and turning it into a solid logo that we can now use to represent our league and be recognised nationwide.

Now for the big question, when do we get the merchandise printed?!
